I had the opportunity to write and design an instruction manual on how to use Microsoft Word and Power Point 2007!

The client is the English department at Pittsburg State University. The department updated their computer lab with the latest version of Microsoft Office. This instructional manual was created for the students to learn the basic applications and usage of the new software. This manual was created using Microsoft Word 2007:
  • Explained the new interface and changes to the software
  • Created screenshots
  • Created instructional graphics out of screen shots
  • Created a set of detailed instructions

I had to write a process description for class.
I really had fun with this one!

The Dynamic Instructional Design Model (DID model) is an educational process which allows an instructor to design, plan, deliver, and evaluate the lessons he or she teaches to students. Lessons taught in public schools must be in accordance with state and federal curricula. Lesson plans showing how the instructor intends on meeting those curricula must be submitted and approved by the district. Anytime an educator is planning to instruct a lesson, no matter how small the lesson may seem, a lesson plan should be implemented prior to and executed throughout the lesson. Because of the complexity behind lesson planning, the DID Model is the most popularly used form for planning lessons in today's schools. This process description was created using Microsoft Word 2007.
  • Explained the process of planning lessons with the Dynamic Instructional Design Model
  • Created a flowchart
  • Gave a detailed explanation of each step in the process

This was an assignment to create a mechanism description!

Bloom's taxonomy is an educational mechanism which displays six levels of cognition to show the differences between these levels and how these thinking levels interact with one another. Bloom's taxonomy was designed for the purpose of aiding instructors by identifying the levels of cognition for the objectives in creating lesson plans. This mechanism description was created using Microsoft Word 2007.
  • Created a flow chart to show readers the six levels of cognition
  • Discussed each level of cognition
  • Explained the uses of Bloom's Taxonomy

This is a newsletter that I created as a class assignment!

The client is the Student Mountain Club (SMC). This organization enjoys hiking and mountain climbing in various locations around the world. The SMC wants a newsletter to inform members of club activities as well as hiking tips and ideas. In addition to keeping members informed, one of the main goals of the newsletter is to attract new members both male and female. This newsletter was created using Microsoft Word 2007:
  • Modified existing layout template
  • Replaced graphic files to meet specific output needs
  • Formatted text with template styles
  • Controlled text-frame insert, alignment, and wrap attributes
